I am a seventh grade English and reading teacher at Denham Springs Junior High,Denham Springs, LA. Our school enrolled 75 displaced students after hurricane Katrina, many of which are still with us. My proposal would benefit approximately 100 students. I am taking a computer class which qualifies me to receive a new laptop computer and a projector. I am excited and anticipate using this technology to enhance my lessons. In order to utilize the new equipment, I am in need of a projector cart and a screen. My students do research throughout the year, and in the past, have only been able to present their findings on posters or mobiles. I would love for my students to be able to create their own PowerPoint presentations and display their work using my projector. The students enjoy when I use Inspiration software to brainstorm ideas and make graphic organizers, but this software needs to be projected onto a large screen. It is difficult for 33 students to see a small projector screen. I believe that a cart and projector screen would allow my students to exhibit their creative nature.
