Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Schools are facing tremendous budget cuts across the nation, so your contributions to our classroom are truly appreciated. It is because of people like you, who are willing to invest in education, that allow students to continue learning about the latest technology and global trends.
We pioneered the first Mandarin-English Dual Language program at a public school in Southern California.
I teach all academic subjects in both Mandarin Chinese and English in a 50:50 ratio.
Although all of my students speak Chinese now, most of them are not native speakers. It's very exciting to have a diverse group of students who are Latino-Americans, African-Americans, White-Americans, European-Americans, and Asian-Americans.
My Project
With these Netbooks, my students will be able to go online to watch videos in Chinese, practice their characters, and listen to Chinese songs. They will learn how to appreciate other cultures/languages as well as empathize with other people and share their life stories. Perhaps, this will be a modest step towards international partnerships, racial reconciliation, and global peace.
Your funding of this project will equip our students to practice their Chinese, be successful in this global economy, and build lasting friendships across national borders.
Their Chinese reading and writing skills will improve rapidly as they can now type Chinese characters more easily and look up new words online.
