Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my class are sweet, thoughtful, inquisitive and constantly asking questions about their learning. The students enjoy learning through cooperative groups and hands-on projects which promotes social and learning skills for the 21 century.
Our school is located in an industrial area in the city of Los Angeles with 90% of the student population receiving free and reduced meal program.
Due to budget constraint, our school was unable to purchase tablets for the students in my class. Most students do not have access to technology at home therefore they are eager to come to school to learn. The students enjoy learning to read and write through the use of the various reading applications. I strongly believe that technology will enhance my students' learning.
My Project
The make up of my class ranges from far below grade level to above grade level. The students are eager to come to school everyday to foster their learning, however, the students are completing worksheets on a daily basis. There aren't many opportunities to work collaboratively. These Kindle Fires will be a great addition to their daily routines . These Kindle Fires would be used for reading, writing , listening centers, math games, and group projects, just to name a few. The students will be using the Kindle fire independently as well as in cooperatively. These Kindle fires would promote self esteem and student engagement.
