Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My classes serve students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, and specific learning disabilities.
Special education teachers are expected to deliver excellent instruction in Science, Math, English and History by buying our own tools.
My Project
A printer would be most beneficial to my students in my math classes to better assistance them in passing the Regents exam at the end of the school year. My students are very interested in using technology to learn the concepts being taught in class by creating projects, diagrams, and graphs using powerpoint, paint, Microsoft word, etc. Technology is also helpful in creating resources to assist my students better understand the information being taught. A printer would be beneficial in printing out all of these materials.
I work with a special population of students who require hands on materials in order to grasp the concepts being taught in math class.
Having a printer would allow my students to have resources posted around the classroom, hands on manipulates, and references with steps and examples.
To prepare and engage my students, a big deal of the classwork is being completed using technology. I currently have my students completing many online modules and projects. I would like to give my students a chance to print out their assignments to post in the classroom, to show to other students, and to take home to show their families.
We would greatly appreciate if you could help us recieve a printer by the end of the school year. Thank you!
