My Students
My students are in a Title I school with limited funds for our class. My students are from all different backgrounds but they all love to learn. I teach students with disabilities that affect their reading and math abilities. I love that they are all willing to come to school every day with great enthusiasm for learning.
My students are book-loving, avid readers, and enthusiastic learners.
As students with special needs, my students need to be exposed to books on varying levels that they can be successful with time and time again. As students with special needs, my students need to be exposed to books on varying levels that they can be successful with time and time again.
My students can be successful with technology that connects them to the book series they love to read.
My Project
The iPad and cover will increase my students' reading capabilities along with increasing their technology knowledge. My students use a reading program called Istation, which is an evidence-based research program on the computer and on their level to increase their skills. But at this time they must use out-dated desktops that run slow, don't always work, and are frustrating for my students to try to use. If we were able to get the iPad for my students, they would be more motivated to jump on the program and complete assignments.
They have expressed interest in learning more about the technology.
My students' reading abilities would increase with their increased time spent using the Istation program with the iPads.
In turn, my students will improve their reading skills in all subject matters as well. Their technology skills will improve, which will help them when they need to complete projects on the computer.
