My students need a projector and an Elmo document camera so that classroom presentations can be brought to life to captivate students and support student engagement.
Technology is a driving force in engaging students, especially in this decade. Children live and breathe technology. No wonder they are not interested in a lesson on the whiteboard or taking daily notes. Students enjoy seeing, hearing, and interacting with technology.
My 3rd Graders attend a public elementary Title 1 school in Southern California.
They are in a dual-immersion program where 1/2 the day they are learning to read, write and speak Mandarin. I teach 40 students in my dual immersion classroom, where English speakers are immersed in the Mandarin language while learning their California standards based curriculum.
Our little school is nearly 100 years old. To step-up the academic program we now offer two innovative and creative educational paths in Dual Language Immersion. We have found that both our Mandarin and Spanish program have enhanced student engagement. Walk into our school and you will hear instruction in English, Spanish and Mandarin. You will be welcomed by students and staff and the multitude of family members who volunteer at the school. My students are happy, eager, and enthusiastic learners. They love using technology! Students enjoy seeing, hearing, and interacting with technology rather than simply reading a textbook.
My Project
A projector along with the Elmo for our classroom will allow me to plan more fun and interactive lessons for my students. Being able to project images, lessons and the occasional video will keep my class more engaged in their learning.
With these tools, I will be able to save time which is very import in a dual language program. I will be able to create more organized and interesting daily lessons for my students.
These tools will keep me from having my back to the students while writing on the white board and allow me to bring things to life in the classroom.
Plus, these tools just makes learning more exciting!
The Elmo and the projector in the classroom would open up endless possibilities for my students.
They would be great resources and make it easier for my students to see lessons projected from my laptop. Any donations you are able to give are greatly appreciated.
