Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are three and four years old. They absolutely love hands-on activities, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think and learn. My student population consists of inner-city children coming from low-income families and different cultural backgrounds.
As a teacher in an urban district, I strive to offer my students the materials they need to develop social skills while maintaining the required social distance.
I work with three- and four-year-old students at various levels of development. I have several students with special needs (IEPs) who are currently mainstreamed into my general education classroom.
I believe that learning occurs when our students and their families care about their school, their teachers, and friends. Teaching young learners to care for the community begins with role models that encourages self-love, and social emotional skills that will last students a life-time.
Many of my students are not exposed to everyday experiences and resources. I strive to provide my students with meaningful experiences that will help guide their learning.
My Project
Technology is an essential part in today's classroom experience! We have learned that during tough times. The Cricut machine would allow me to make and design a variety of unique items for the students. In a pre-k classroom, it's important to have a signage clear and concise. A machine like this would not only help us create fun project with the students, but it would also allow us to create signage to assist students in tasks such as lining up, maintain social distancing where necessary, or where to walk for hand washing. In addition, the Cricut machine would allow children to use their creativity to make fun art projects to take home and keep forever as a special preschool memory.
