This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are so fortunate to have four classroom computers. Our reading program will read aloud selections from the text book. The problem is that we have no headphones.

My second grade students range from proficient readers, to struggling.

We are at a neighborhood school where most of the families want their students to succeed, but may lack the tools to help them reach their potential. In Texas, like many states, we are facing a huge budget crisis that has seen big cuts in school spending.

My Project

The headphones I have requested will allow my students to hear stories read aloud, and have the additional feature of letting them record themselves. This allows children to practice their fluency, and lets me review their progress. Students can independently practice reading and math skills without disrupting the class.

These headphones will help make the classroom computers an effective teaching and learning tool.

Students can all share in the benefits of technology independently. The durable headphones will be used year after year.
