Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a classroom full of eager and active first graders ready to take on the world. I tell my students everyday that I expect nothing but the best from them and for them to expect nothing but the best from me.
My first grade students come from different cultural backgrounds.
They look, act and speak differently, but all have the same goal to learn. I work at Title 1 school and the majority of my students receive free or reduce lunch. We have one computer lab in our school. With one computer lab the 3-5 grade students have priority. This means my first graders do not have access to the lab to practice basic computer skills. Many of our students don't have access to computers at home. I want my first graders to have access to technology , to prepare them for the technology based society we live in. I ask them to be their best and I want them to have access to the best.
My Project
Our classroom has one computer that is shared and used by the teacher and students. The 4 Kindle Fires will allow my students to have technology at their finger tips. It will build their technology skills, practice their basic math skills ( counting, addition, and subtraction), and foundational reading skills by using educational apps to enhance their learning. This will allow my students to work in pairs or small groups at their level , using engaging activities that are at their current level and helping them to excel.
Donating to this project will greatly change the way my current and future students learn with technology for years to come.
It will allow my students to engage in different activities and learn at their own level. This will give them access to technology that many of my students would not have otherwise.
