Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative and extremely spontaneous! I teach in a low-income, high poverty area and my students don't always have access to the tools they need to help them succeed. Most of the students in our school are on free or reduced price lunch. Many of them are new to the United States and not fluent in English.
I see potential in every single student that walks through my classroom door!
My students love to read and write. They are passionate about learning. As a teacher, I can not control their home environment but I can definitely try my best to make their learning environment positive and enjoyable.
My Project
Having more computers in the classroom will allow every student the opportunity to dig deeper into our class discussions. Having three new Chromebooks in my classroom will help students complete reading assignments, projects and be able to research assignments and information needed. Also, having headphones for each student will allow them to work privately and not disturb others. Computers also give more students the opportunity to work at their level during small group instruction. Many of my students don't have computers at home and these computers will allow more students to be given the opportunity to use technology and complete assignments that they can not complete at home. All of our students deserve the opportunity to learn and use all resources possible, regardless of their home life or economic status. Your generous donation will improve learning in our fifth grade classroom.
