HSA is a literacy magnet school within the Chicago Public School system. Our students come from all over the city of Chicago. Despite some lack of resources, we are on of the highest achieving schools in CPS. Budget cuts and large classrooms make teaching in Chicago rewarding but a challenge. I rely heavily on the use of technology. I am currently using using a MacBook to teach that is almost 8 years old. I have added memory and a new hard drive out of my own pocket. My efforts have bought me some time, but that time is running out.
As a student of 190 students we are in desperate need of a new computer.
My computer is used daily by myself and students for projects. I know that are a lot of good causes to donate to so thank you everyone for the consideration.
My Project
I am veteran teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. I am a strong believer in technology in the classroom. We use technology every day in my classes. Currently, I am using a MacBook that is about 8 years old and running out of memory and consistently shuts down without warning. We have a number of classroom projects that need this technology, like the American Revolution (Top 5) Podcast, The Presidential Draft/Report Card, The Continents Showcase, and The Colonial Brochures, to name a few. We even have a YouTube Channel.
We need a new and working computer to continue the outstanding work of our students.
