Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach English Language Arts to a group of intelligent, engaged, and curious 5th graders who are future leaders and world changers! Our school is located in a diverse neighborhood on the southwest side of Chicago, and my students come from various social-economic backgrounds. They are interested in current events and learning about the ever-changing world around them. They are a part of the Post-Millennial generation, born at a time where having access to technology helps to promote access and equality.

My Project

This laptop will allow me to create and participate in an online learning community for my students. Students will use our Google Classroom to communicate and collaborate with one another and we will use this platform and stay informed and connected to global issues.

My students are growing up in the digital age in which students who know how to find and use information online have an advantage.

By giving my students access to technology and experience with Google Classroom and Google Chat, I hope to level the playing field. All children deserve access and equity. Utilizing all that technology offers is one small step that will help promote equity and will help prepare my students for the future.
