Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A day starts with a student and I personally greeting each child as they walk into the classroom. My goal is for them to love coming to school so they don't even realize how much they are actually learning. This is accomplished by immersing them in engaging and fun activities.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and economic levels.
Many of them speak two languages and need to become their parents translator between myself and them. Over 75% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. These meals are the healthiest meal they eat during the day. Despite many of their difficult living conditions they come to school ready to learn and with a smile on their face.
My Project
The iPads that I have asked for will help my 21 students immensely. They will be able to use the IPads during reading workshop allowing the students to be able to access books online in English and in Spanish. I will be able to let students who need to be challenged more in math use programs that will meet their needs. The benefit of the IPads are multifunctional in that they can be used as enrichment as well as for reteaching a skill. In writing, they will be using them to put their stories on a digital storybook. One of the things I am most excited about is being able to utilize virtual field trips. Many of my students have not had the opportunity to go to a zoo, aquarium or museum. It would be a wonderful gift to give them.
The donation of the iPads will help my students keep up with technology since many of them do not have iPads, computers, or tablets at home.
This donation will help my students achieve success as well as enhance their love of learning.
