My Students
The district that I teach in puts emphasis on technology and its importance but unfortunately is unable to supply that technology to the lower elementary grades. Students are required to use technology to complete assessments so the more exposure to technology and the more practice they get the better.
I have seen my students become more engaged and excited about learning when technology is involved.
That level of excitement can be maintained if they get to use technology more often
My Project
My school is a small school of about 500 students with a small computer lab that is shared by grades K through 4. The 5th and 6th grades use laptops that are rotated through each classroom when necessary. So the technology use by our students is limited at best.
Educators have seen that when using computers or similar technology that students become excited and are much more engaged in what they are doing.
They try harder and want to learn.
There are so many resources that students can access when they have technology from research on topics they are learning to educational sites. Just using a Chromebook helps prepare students for the workforce where many of them will need these skills to be successful in their careers. Technology is important.
