Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Each year, students at my school arrive with the excitement of finding out what teacher they got and who is in their class with them. They are energetic and willing to learn about what is new for the year and what tools they will use to learn. Technology is their preferred tool to use for researching how scientists and explorers discover how animals survive in our world or how they invent new tools and gadgets to make their lives easier. Our students live in a neighborhood where there are diverse cultures and ethnic groups socializing and learning together. Many students arrive from other countries without understanding the English language and struggle to learn to read and speak it.
As their science teacher my goal is to allow all students in my class and the school to have equal access to exploring the animals in my classroom through the use of technology.
All students who enter my classroom will be able to learn about real world science by observing and researching about the animals and plants in my classroom and in the school garden.
My Project
Our students were born in the 21st century which means they were born with technology in the brain. They have been using tablets, smart phones, or laptops for entertainment, gaming, and even learning. Receiving an iPad for the students to use in class will allow them to walk around the classroom while learning at the same time.
Collaborative group learning environments will be easily introduced and completed by the students with a classroom iPad for them to use.
Students will be able to access their assignments implemented on technology in a flexible learning environment by using the iPad. Using digital tools to teach my students will also allow me to design more assignments meet their personalized learning goals.
