David Warlick said, "We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher's hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world." My students need Chromebooks to allow more children a chance to use technology for differentiated learning throughout the day.
I am a fifth year, second grade teacher in a Pre-K through 5th grade school with a widely diverse population.
I teach an inclusion class of nineteen 7-8 year olds. Coming from a variety of backgrounds, my second grade students range in ability level in each subject. The one thing that all of my students have in common is their thirst for knowledge. With all of my students being on various learning levels, it is sometimes a difficult task to reach each student on their own level. While still continuing my regular curriculum, I am also trying to fill gaps for students that are behind while pushing higher students further.
While I remember having technology around most of my life, my students have never known a life without technology. They have known a technological world since the time that they were born. These students are familiar with technology and enjoy using it. Chromebooks will allow me to have more students using technology for differentiated learning throughout the day.
"Technology will not replace great teachers, but technology in the hands of great teachers can be transformational." -George Curous Throughout our day, Chromebooks would be beneficial to all students.
I have students on a wide range of levels. Chromebooks would allow me to have students online, accessing websites for both intervention and enrichment while I am meeting with small groups of other levels.
