Mrs. Walter from Saint Louis MO is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a tablet in the room to access specialized programs accessed using a Samsung Tablet geared towards their individual learning and development.

I teach wonderful and amazing students with Autism, ADHD (Other Health Impaired), students with Intellectual Disabilities and Specific Learning Disabilities in the areas of Reading, Writing and Math. I teach students who are Emotionally Disturbed (some suffer from PTSD from experiencing traumatic events in their young lives). I teach students with Traumatic Brain Injury and students with Down Syndrome. All these students have one thing in common...they strive to do their best on a daily basis so I must rise to their needs, challenge them and help them succeed in their educational adventures.
When in the classroom and throughout the school environment, we work on reading, writing, math, social skills, behavior management, organizational skills, pre-reading/writing/math skills, staying focus and on staying on task skills.
I am constantly searching the web for new, innovative and differentiated ways to approach my student's learning needs and to share them with the general education teachers as well. As a special educator, we are not given a "curriculum" and rely on our observations, experience and the student's personality, goals, and individual needs to guide us along on this journey.
I love my students to the moon and back!
These students would have uninterrupted access to technology through a classroom Samsung Tablet by using specialized programs to access apps for communication purposes (Proloquo2Go: Symbol-based AAC), reading, writing, math (ABC Mouse, using the word app to increase writing skills and also increase their skills with using technology), social skills (access youtube videos referenced in lesson plans to see specific skill - most of my students are highly visual).
Most of my students need a visual model to learn.
I lost my Promethean board and my one iPad due to general ed. teachers need for them. I want to replace.
