Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are located in a low income district in Cumberland County. Many are dual language learners who strive to overcome difficulties with learning, and are motivated to achieve great things. Unfortunately our district is limited with technology devices, and this often hinders many of their learning.
However, I have slowly been expanding our technology devices in our classroom.
Currently, we are sharing eight devices, and would like to expand till twelve. The devices we do have are great motivators especially for students who struggle with learning. These devices allow my students to expand their vocabulary, engage in education games, and research information.
My Project
These Kindles will help enhance my students learning, reading, and writing skill. These tablets will help my students toward the goal of becoming independent learners and will be used in student groups during reading and writing lessons. They will allow my students to have a fast resource within reach to utilize for research, spelling and grammar help. In addition, these devices will give them the much needed learning support.
Additional technology in our classroom will improve my students' lives because we have become a fast paced society that is technology driven.
Students in districts such as ours are at a disadvantage when it comes to such tools. However, by gaining these devices this will help broaden this gap. This is just another small step to help them become independent learners.
