Technology in the Music Classroom

My students need access to technology. Currently, I have 2 student laptops to be shared in class sizes averaging 40 students. Students take turns to use the laptops to supplement their learning.

My Students

"Some people think music education is a privilege, but I think it's essential to being human." This community would not have the opportunity for cultural exposure without music in the school.

This community does not have the opportunity for students to be exposed to different cultures and different art forms.

I teach in a Title 1 school where 85% of the students are on free or reduced lunch. My students live in low income housing and are largely of African American and/or Hispanic descent. Many can't afford instruments, so they are provided school instruments to use.

My Project

6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will use these tablets in class every day. Students will use these tablets to search for examples of specific content, watch videos of professional musicians, record themselves so they can hear and evaluate where they need to improve, and to collaborate with their classmates.

Without this donation, students will not have all the resources to be successful or to be competitive with students from more affluent areas.

Technology in the music classroom allows all students to be reached at his or her individual level. There are millions of resources online to supplement the learning and growth of each student.
