Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My wonderful Kindergarten students live in Victoria, Texas. I love that my students are eager to learn. This is a safe place to so many. They are welcomed every day with a smile.
We are a Title One Campus, where more than 90% of our students are on Free and Reduced lunch.
The majority of the students walk or ride the bus to school. Our school and families were hit by Hurricane Harvey. Many were displaced and had lots of damage to their homes and to our school. Many are still recovering. We have a high mobility rate, with kids moving in and out of our area. Even though, these students have experienced a lot in their short lifetime, they are resilient.
My Project
These iPads will make a difference in our classroom, by providing an opportunity for the students to receive computer enrichment or intervention programs on a daily basis.
Our classroom currently has a limited number of computers and iPads, which makes it difficult for students to get on for the recommended allotted time.
The students will also be able to do research and take AR test.
The area where we live, many families cannot afford technology in the home, so this would also allow for us to enrich their lives. Technology is our future and what better way to get started using it at an early age.
