Ms. A. from PA is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need materials for a listening center as well as a document camera.

I teach in an urban low income school district in Pennsylvania. I am a full time supplemental self contained learning support teacher. I service both third and fourth grade students.
My students come from very diverse backgrounds.
The majority of my students come from single parent homes or are being raised by a relative of some sort. They all qualify for free lunch, and many receive food substitutions as a part of our school's backpack program. Regardless of their home lives, these students enter my room each morning with a bright smile. Their ability to push past daily stress from the outside world is truly amazing.
Any and all donations I request through donors choose benefit my kiddos directly and help make my classroom a better learning environment.
I have requested materials such as a headphone jackbox and a boom box for my classroom to create a listening center. Many of my students are beginning readers. Having access to books on tape or CD will allow them to learn new words and improve their literacy skills. We are well supplied with headphones, so these materials will make the listening center complete.
Adding technology to the classroom creates an entirely different experience for our students.
They are able to then learn through a variety of platforms otherwise unavailable to them. This makes them more successful learners.
The additional technology I have requested is a document camera. I teach a unique curriculum which makes it hard to get enough of everything for my kiddos. I have purchased my own science curriculum but would need to make ten copies for everyone to have their own book. With the use of a document camera, my students will be able to see exactly what is happening in our curriculum textbooks. It will save on copying and allow us to learn more collaboratively.
