My Students

The students that I serve have been diagnosed with Autism, Other Health Impairment, or an Emotional Disturbance.
They often are struggling learners and I strive to support them in reaching their academic and emotional goals.
During social skills, we often read a story to go along with the theme of our lesson. I also wanted to create a diverse classroom library to keep their interest.
My Project
I have observed my students while using iPads in the classroom versus my traditional direct instruction. My students do not have a long attention span and tend to have many issues during traditional lessons. Implementing technology has increased the level of focus for my students. Due to the fact that our school is disadvantaged, our resources are limited.
These iPads would allow me to create a technology center in my classroom.
My plan is to create a small group center in order for students to have more individualized attention. The technology group would provide students some decompression time while still engaging in academic programs.
