My students need two new Chromebooks, a book on technology lessons, a coding computer and the 24 headphones to listen and work in google classroom so that they become technologically competent students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from all over Los Angeles. Some come from broken families. Others come from loving and involved parents. The students have built a community in my classroom where friendship and trust is built and learned. Some students get on a bus early in the morning to come to our wonderful school. When they leave it takes some two hours on a bus back to their homes. Most students do their homework on the bus and I (their teacher) am the only consistent thing in their lives.
My school is a title one school and everyone gets breakfast in the morning, some students receive free lunches too.
It's a great place to work and all the kids want to learn while also having fun. My students in particular love outside projects and learning through experiences. Our school loves science and so do my students. We love conducting our own experiments outside in the fresh air.
What makes my students special is that they choose to come to our special school to learn and enrich their lives. Everyday, each student has a smile on his or her face and that brightens up my day.
My Project
Having the additional two of Chromebooks will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. One way they will be used is as a STEM center or for an engineering challenge. Students can look up pictures of bridges and then design their own using nothing more than Popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and tape. Another way they will be used is by recording the results of an experiment. We have 10 chrome books in class today, and we need 14 more to have one Chromebook per student so that we can use applications like google classroom more effectivly.
Recently, we have been conducting research on the animal life cycle and made google slide reports on the current chrome books, but we need more for everyone.
If we have a couple more we can eventually have our goal of 24 chrome books in the classroom. In the future, with the purchase of the chrome books and the kit on how computers work students will be ready for the real world competitive technology race. They can conduct their experiments and then they could collaborate on group findings by sharing through the cloud. In addition, I could download apps for various math practice skills for a math center, which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students.
My project will make a difference because, as I said before, these students are becoming more and more technology savvy and they are the generation to change the work through technology.
Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners. With your help, this grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more.
