My students need a safe place to take their Accelerated Reading tests instead of leaving the room and being unsupervised. They need a laptop for the classroom.
My students are from rural towns in WV. Being in a high poverty area with budget cuts, students don't always have the latest technology that's needed for success. My students are eager to use the technological programs that will enhance their learning, but they're forced to leave the classroom.
My students are a group of 60 intelligent kids.
They want to succeed in school and in life. I provide them with rich lessons that are to be completed on the computer. We have 1 computer lab that is to be shared with 14 classrooms. Finding lab time isn't always easy. Students are forced to leave the secure classroom setting to go to the computer lab to complete these rich computer based lessons. Students need to be supervised, and they need to be within the safety of their classroom.
My Project
By having a laptop in our classroom, students will be able to remain with the teacher while completing the technology rich lessons. This will allow them to review concepts as well as complete enrichment activities without leaving the classroom. This will allow for less disruption in learning for all students. They will be able to complete Accelerated Reader tests, Moby Max lessons, IXL lessons, etc. Students will be better able to master the Common Core Standards and become successful citizens.
In the world where technology is becoming more and more necessary each day, students have a need to complete classwork and enrichment by utilizing technology in the classroom.
My students will be able to have teacher support while working on the laptop, and they will be able to receive teacher feedback immediately. This will build their self confidence and pave the way for feeling successful in the real world.
