My classroom houses students in grades K-5. I try it incorporate some type of technology within every lesson to allow for differentiation of instruction. An extra IPAD would allow each teaching station to have its own technology device.
My classroom is a K-5 self-contained classroom that houses student in grades K-5.
The class is titled CDC/Diagnostic. Students in this program are referred due to a problem in managing their behavior. Some students come with a disability while others may come to test and determine if a disability is present. I have 3 teaching assistants who all teach academics throughout the day. I write lesson plans and each group follows them. There are anywhere from 1-4 teaching groups being instructed at the same time daily.
Our entire school is considered a special day school within our county. There are several different classrooms and programs in the building. The common factor in all rooms is the students behaviors are not able to be managed in the regular school setting. Our ultimate goal is to create a program that is successful enough that the students is able to return to their base school.
My Project
The use of technology within the classroom is such an important component in today's educational settings. During academic instruction, my lesson plans are able to be accessed through drop box to make it easily accessible for my staff. Each grade level, also, has a folder in Dropbox that contains any assignment that would need to be accessed electronically. I may have a PowerPoint created for understanding a reading or writing skill. Our county math program offers an additional lesson on-line to help further teach the skill. The Internet is an excellent source to help in understanding both Science and Social Studies concepts. It also allows for different ways the students hear and learn the information. Currently the staff are sharing computers or IPAD, which can delay the lesson creating downtime for students who struggle with extra wait time.
The additional IPAD will decrease the amount of wait time and interruptions during instruction time.
It will allow for the student to stay more focused decreasing down time that could give opportunities for bad behaviors. It also allows staff to be more prepared as they can review the lessons at their stations referring back to them when necessary. It will also allow them to review in Internet based activities prior to teaching the lesson.
