My students come from a variety of backgrounds here in Arizona. They absolutely love working with technology whether it is for individualized practice or engaging projects that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions. Since my students come to school with varying levels of experiences and skills, I want to provide daily exposure to technology.
My 5th graders are fearless when it comes to technology and; as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
In my classroom, we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, cooperative learning styles, and alternative seating to ensure that each student's needs are met.
I am extremely lucky to have curious, enthusiastic, creative learners that are eager to dive into a challenge. I want to provide the platform from which they can start and develop in a fast growing world!
My Project
These Amazon Kindle tablets will provide a huge benefit in my classroom. We use technology on a daily basis and the nine Amazon tablets will supplement the six we have in class, so all students will have access. Choice is a critical element in our classroom, and when given choices, the majority of my students want the project or challenge that involves using a computer or a tablet.
In today's world we cannot assume that every child has assess to technology on a daily basis, so I want to ensure I provide this opportunity.
Our math textbooks, Microsoft Office programs, parent/student communication tools, and individualize learning programs are all heavily reliant on computer savvy individuals.
As educators it is our responsibility to prepare our students for the future, and the future is being competent and comfortable using technology. I love when my students learn something new, and then turn around and teach me!
