My students need a classroom iPad. The wireless capability, the camera, video for shows, and P.E. tracking would be ideal to help students learn.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students at our school have a lot of knowledge about the technology available to them in the world, but our school resources prevent us from having them really experience that technology. Computers with Windows ME, really? The iPad will let me access newer online programs, use photo/video, etc.
Our low socio-economic school is 90% Title I here in Southern California.
I have 34 students, all of them on enthusiastic about technology. We have a grant for Ballroom Dancing for which lat year our class received 2nd place. We competed last year in the Lego Robotics competition and came in 3rd. While we couldn't afford to buy more Lego Kits for this year, we were able to borrow some from other schools and the kids are enthusiastic for this technology. Our school is a new one, just three years old, but already we are gathering a reputation for technology. One classroom is using the teacher's iPhone and a free green screen app to create short video presentations by students. My class was recently awarded a grant for musical recorders and they have been excited to learn it. This is who we are.
My Project
This iPad will be used for many things. We will use the photo/video capabilities for our class, ans school presentations (dance, music recitals, talent shows). We have a Physical Education program to track their progress in the 5th grade Physical Fitness Program, there are apps for our Healthy Network curriculum. We have projectors in the class and we can outfit the iPad wirelessly to have students be at their desk and project their responses and projects, and have the whole class share out. The iPad will be used for small group instruction when the main classroom projector is not convenient. For a class of 34, this piece of technology will raise our classroom computer total to 5, a good start for small independent projects.
We've all seen those videos at seminars which talk about the future being now, and our classrooms teach with antiquated materials for jobs that haven't been invented yet.
We know we're behind in technology. These students have a chance, with your help to slightly close that gap and bring modernity into their daily lives. Thank you.
