Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Its rare to find a school where students seem to be just as enthusiastic about taking an art class as athletics class but this is very much the way of life at my school. We are a fairly large population of about 3000 students and most of those students want to take art. Although, my students are in a economically disadvantaged district, I am very lucky to work in a school that is supportive of the arts and able to hire and meet those demands, unfortunately, starting a new art program from the ground up is very expensive. My school was able to provide me with some basic supplies to get started, but there are lots of items still needed for a happy and successful art experience. These students are eager to learn, explore and experiment and I would love to provide them with more than enough materials to do so.

My Project

Today's world is becoming even more reliant on technology. I think it is important that we as educators are helping our students learn how to function in a technology based world. The same applies for the art world, as the world evolves so do the arts. Students should have the ability to learn how to use the same skills that are being currently used in the art world. Currently, I have several eager students dying to learn how to do some of the artwork they are seeing on social media and I would love the opportunity to teach them and several others how.
