I teach a class of 19 bright and energetic second grade students in which we have built a strong sense of belonging and aloha within our community. I teach LA, math, and social studies throughout the day and utilize all types of modalities to keep students engaged. Being a previous student who was part of the 21st century generation, I have had first hand-experience of the benefits of technology in the classroom.
Curious, compassionate, and creative, my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.
They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
My Project
My students LOVE to learn and are eager in continuing to further their knowledge. During large group instruction, students are attentive and love to make use of the promethean board and the impact it has on student engagement. After large group instruction, students disperse to centers and small group instruction. At this time, students are allowed to play with manipulatives, work in groups, and extend the learning through various modalities.
My students are noticeably more engaged and have learned skills of working cooperatively and compassionately with one another when working with peers.
The iPad I have selected will help my students by giving them another type of modality for them to explore in which they can nurture and foster their learning. My hope is that being able to provide students a new center with technology will enrich their experiences in the 21st century!
