This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant at Edison elementary and Freedom elementary for Lawton Public Schools. My students are so eager to learn new things all the time. They range from students with articulation errors, language and literacy, to autism. They are in a low-income neighborhoods. And I want to make sure that they have up to date materials that will allow them to learn with our ever changing technology. I believe having an IPad would allow them to do so.
My Project
Technology is becoming an important part of our students’ learning. I believe that with this new technology, that my students will benefit from having therapy materials readily and quickly available. Their needs range from articulation to fluency.
I am always on the go with providing therapy services at two elementary schools in our district, one being a Title 1 school and the other is a located on a military base.
This IPad and case would be a great way to add to our small therapy resource inventory. This would be a great tool that all of my students would be able to use.
There are so many fantastic resources and app available for their needs, such as Splingo, Articulation Station, and Lively Letters. These apps would help them meet their goals, as there is no age limit or restrictions on using an IPad. With technology being such an important part of our daily lives, I would be able to present interactive materials to help motivate them and make their tasks fun. They love game based learning and play.
