My students need a creative, fun, and energizing way to start every Physical Education Class. By using the iPad, the students will engage quickly with instant activities!
Physical Education is an ever changing discipline taught in schools. These days, students need a fun and relatable way to get motivated to be healthy in school and out. I want my students to realize how important it is to be active and healthy and how exercise is not a punishment.
My school consists of over 700 students from Preschool through 6th grade.
They are a very diverse group representing over 15 different native countries. The students are very engaged in many different activities that are provided to them whether it be advance academics, after school programs, or athletics. The school is a very tight group of faculty and students where a majority of them live within walking distance. With several faculty members working here for over two decades, it shows how dedicated this group of teachers are.
My Project
If we are able to get the iPad in the gymnasium, we will greatly reduce on wasted time in the gymnasium. All students only get two, thirty-minute P.E. classes a week. After you take in instruction time and classroom management time, that hour shrinks even great. My idea is to bring a instant activity curriculum to our classes. This is when the students will come into the gym and see what they need to do right away by using the iPad, the Apple TV, and projector screen. We will save valuable minutes each class and those will accumulate as the year goes on. The iPad has many other applications that we can use for evaluating, classroom management, audio/visual, etc.
This donation would completely change the way our P.E.
classes run. We will save almost 300 minutes of wasted activity time for each class during the course of the year. That is six extra classes where we can be teaching the students how to live healthy lives. We will be able to bring alternative games the students might love and continue to play outside of the school setting. Those are two huge goals that I know we can accomplish.
