Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Technology is the way of the future", we have all heard that expression but reality is the future is now! Technology is everywhere! We use technology daily in all aspects of life and I want to bring that same high tech technology to my class as well.
I am a Kindergarten teacher and my students are eager to learn.
They truly love school and come everyday ready for our next adventure. Some of my students are in ESOL and are still learning the English language but I also teach the EFL (extended foreign language) program. This is a program where I teach the students Language Arts in Spanish as well. Most of my students are learning Spanish as a second language. Despite the diversity in my class all the students work hard to achieve their goals!
My Project
A projector in class would benefit my students greatly. Our new reading series is primarily internet based and a lot of the resources are online. This is difficult because we try to use the computer screen but the whole class has a hard time seeing the activities or lessons on the small screen. If we had a projector in class the students would be able to view all the resources that our new series has to offer. For example there are stories that are read and acted out for them. There are also writing tutorials for the children to learn how to form letters correctly and showing them how to build sentences. Games and activities are provided for each lesson so that all students can get involved. The projector could also be used in all subject areas, especially in our EFL time. Some of the students know Spanish but the majority are learning Spanish as a second language. With the projector I can introduce vocabulary using pictures and songs that the whole class can be involved with.
Donations towards a projector for our class will make a difference by actively involving all students in learning.
The students can utilize the projector in centers as well. The projector can be set up at and displayed on our white board. They can find sight words in stories, complete writing activities, and read stories together. This would greatly enhance my teaching where each student can take part in our daily lessons and activities. Help us get a projector for our classroom!
