This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a cross-categorical classroom with students that have been identified with a variety of learning disabilities. I have a wide range of students from Kindergarten to Fifth grade and they are all at different abilities and levels.

Some of my students struggle accessing technology and I want to help them.

We have recently gotten new computers that are touch screen, which has allowed students to utilize the computer more. I know that kid specific headphones that limit sound and an adapted keyboard will help them even more.

My Project

It is important to me to get headphones that are specifically made with kids in mind. Often my students are seeking sensory input, and do not understand that having headphones with the volume all the way up is bad for them. It will be great to have a product that will ensure that the volume is not too loud for them. A lot of my students can utilize the touch screen or the mouse, but struggle with typing. By having a larger color coded keyboard, I am hoping that my students will be able to practice their typing skills more.
