I am a high school resource teacher(Special Education) in a school of approximately 4,500 students. My school is in the Houston Independent School District. Of the 4,500 students, 500 of our students are Hurricane Katrina students. In teaching high school resource students, I have found out that technology is the best way to not only motivate the students but also prepare them for the future. To aid my teaching I need a computer so that innovative teaching can occur through technology. My students love working on the computer, but there are not enough computers in my classroom for everyone to work on. My students are also required to do various projects that involve the use of digital cameras and camcorders. Most of the time I borrow a co-worker's materials to help assist them. If I had these materials in my classroom, I could assist my students more. Technology opportunities are endless. My students would be exposed to technology that they don't have at home and it will be part of the learning process if our proposal is funded.
