Third grade students need the opportunity to experience current technology and incorporate it into everyday learning. The iPod allows students the ability to access eBooks, daily math fact practice, allows for a photo/video tool for reports, and FaceTime opportunities for pen pals.
Our students attend a spirited California school with nearly 700 students.
Our location provides instruction to students of many different lifestyles, languages, and backgrounds. It also houses specialized Autistic classes ranging from preschool to intermediate grades.
My Project
Having an iPod touch in the classroom will give students immediate access to books at their reading level, provide organized storage of music for movement and physical education activities, and applications that can challenge and track their progress in acquiring basic math facts. They will also be able to use the photo and video features to create yearbook pages, and basic reports can be enhanced into multimedia presentations. Most exciting, the students will be able to FaceTime with pen pals states away, and visit with a classmate recovering from major surgery who will be hospitalized long-term.
This donation would be a step toward incorporating functional current technology in the classroom.
Unfortunately, with budget cuts and staffing constraints, our location has lost our computer resource instructor and struggles with outdated computers that often times aren't operating properly. Technology experience is vital for children in education. Please help me empower our future. Thank you for your interest!
