This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students enter the classroom each day with energy and enthusiasm. They are thoughtful, inquisitive, and ready to take on the world.

My students are culturally and linguistically diverse, yet they and their families value learning to read, write, and speak in Spanish.

Our school model is 90/10, meaning that instruction in Kindergarten is in Spanish for 90% of the day and English for 10% of the day. Some students are maintaining their Spanish language, and some are learning it as a second or third language.

My Project

My students need an HP Envy laptop computer. With this laptop, we can access literacy and videos that help support me as I teach them in a second language. When we have art enrichment classes on Fridays, we can access the different strategies and skills that are necessary to create art and demonstrate what is needed to be creative. In addition to supporting literacy and art, the laptop will give my students access to mathematical programs that are engaging and developmentally appropriate for them. In all areas, this laptop would support their acquisition of a second language, Spanish, and help develop their vocabulary.
