Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Third Grade Dual Language Teacher in the best school in the world. My students come from very diverse ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds and I could not be more blessed to have them all in my class.
My students inspire me to grow as a teacher and as a human being.
This is my first year teaching third grade, and my kiddos make my day better as soon as they walk in the door every day. They love our class and enjoy learning in the environment and classroom culture we have in our room. My students are excited about using technology to take ownership of their everyday learning and to challenge each other to keep growing.
My Project
I want to attend professional development offered by NCHE at the Smithsonian Museum of American History about the impact of technology in American History. My students will not only learn about general curriculum but will also learn about logic, structures, and historical thinking that will support their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. My goal is to bring back relevant information that my students can relate to while they learn about history and technology. This professional development will provide me with the tools to help them develop grit, to take on challenges that will allow them to become leaders. In addition, they will practice the skills of our school values: persevering, embracing challenges, solving problems, communicating, and valuing mistakes.
This training will allow my students to make meaningful connections between history and technology.
Attending this conference will not only help me incorporate historical thinking skills in my Dual Language classroom but it will also help the Dual Language team to be successful so that all of our students will embrace the challenges and experiences of the future.
