I teach 6-8 grade history. covid, has created a new chapter of history for students and teachers. managing, changing, and adapting to new technologies, ways of learning, and tools of which to learn has created challenges like never before. My student's are smart, fun, scrappy, sincere, loving, mad, and vulnerable. Ranging from emotional, literarily , anger, gender, and culturally challenged.
My students love Technology, however, not all have access to tools for the opportunities available to them.
Students in my classes range widely and are a great group of kids. Dealing with the challenges of covid, sickness, family deaths, back and fourth between virtual learning and on campus; my students and all students are incredibly resilient.
My struggling readers will benefit greatly from the technology your generous grant provides. Students will be able to listen to lectures and speak text to help learn and complete homework assignments.
MY Students, especially those with special needs, IEP's, and struggling readers, will benefit greatly from this technology.
The document camera will be a great asset while teaching virtually. The ability to take a picture of a book page, writing on the board, a map, quiz, or homework and send it digitally to a virtual student will allow students to not fall behind, and be invaluable for students continuing success. Students with visual, or tactile impairments will benefit from the headphones, and microphone greatly. I can testify to this because, I was one of these students.
