Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds. Most are English Language Learners. My school is a Title I school. Many of my students live in poverty and face many challenges including economical, familial, social, and cultural. My students are sweet kids who love and appreciate what they have or are given. I love my students dearly and I'm devoted to giving them the best educational experience possible.

My Project

My students attend a Title I school meaning they have economic disadvantages. Our school is a 1-to-1 school meaning each student is provided a device for them to complete their school work on. Technology is something that is used in our classroom daily in a variety of different ways.

Surge protectors and hanging storage bags are the items needed for this project.

Many of my students will come to class and not have their device charged so they need to sit by an outlet while they allow their device to charge. In my classroom there is only three available outlets for the students to use and the areas they are located limits where the students are able to sit and still see me. The surge protectors would provide several open outlets for my students to use at one time and the extra long cord will allow several students to plug on at one time and still have access to a larger area to choose from to sit.

In my classroom I have a Listening Center where students can listen to books be read to them. The book is played via CD in a CD player and the student has a paper copy of the book to follow along with. Due to the impact of Covid-19 many on my students are behind in their reading skills and benefit greatly from being able to listen to the boom while following along with the words. The hanging storage bags will be a valuable tool to have for this center because it provide a way to store and organize the books with their corresponding CD. My current storage situation isn't working the way I hoped and I want to try something new.
