Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager little learners. They are excited to see what we are discussing each day. They love to explore various topics and content area with a variety of experiences, including by exploring through hands-on activities and through technology.
My students are curious about the world around them.
Through hands-on activities, they learn first hand about objects around them. Using technology deliberately and purposefully, my students get to expand on those experiences by going on virtual field trips, practicing concepts through various apps and websites, and having the opportunity to listen to music and incorporating movement throughout the day to help with retaining information.
My Project
Our school is on a six-day rotation for going to technology class. By incorporating using iPads into classroom activities, students will have more exposure to technology that when purposefully planned enhances their learning.
With the help of generous donors, I would be able to put iPads into my center rotation allowing students to have endless learning opportunities.
During centers, students would have access to apps and websites, like, ABCmouse, Starfall, GoNoodle, etc.
Last year I incorporated ABCmouse using my laptop and allowing my students to play it whole group by displaying it on our whiteboard. By using my name on my laptop, students were limited to the activities they could do on ABCmouse. If we had iPads to use during centers, students would be able to log in with their own name and they would have more choices to practice various concepts.
Also, students would be able to record their learning experiences by taking photos of the activities they were engaged in. This would give them ownership in their learning and pride in the products they produce. This would help document what learning is going on in the classroom, so it could be shared with parents by displaying the photos during our student-led conferences as well as throughout the year.
