My students need 25 laptop cases to protect their computers; we have been fortunate to provide the computers but want to further protect this investment for our students.
Thunk! "I'm so sorry!" The look of remorse on a student's face says it all. We all know what it is like to drop a cell phone or laptop. It happens no matter how careful we are. We have been fortunate enough to provide laptops for our students and would like to protect that investment for the future.
Our school is a small K-8 urban charter school with a high free and reduced lunch population (approximately 90%) and a high English language learners population (approximately 80%).
Our students work hard and because of that we are one of the highest performing charter schools in the area and have continued to see growth in student achievement.
My Project
We need 25 laptop covers to protect the computers our students use. We have been able to provide laptops for our students which they use on a daily basis in all classes. They carry them from class to class and sometimes accidents occur.
Because we have such a high ELL population, having computers has been an enormous help in differentiating instruction with all learners. We can provide video lessons to groups and/or individual students based on their needs.
Using technology also allows our students opportunities to master 21st century skills. They are engaged in not only reading and writing, but creating glogs, prezis, and iMovies. They are learning collaboration and presentation skills.
Engaging all students is critical to learning and having the technology to help reach students in many ways is an amazing opportunity for teachers and students.
