Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach a variety of students grades K to 6th . The classes vary in size, but they utilize the library anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes per week. A majority of my students come from low income family, and the school is in a low income district.

Each class from grades 1 to 6 is involved in an Accelerated Reading program and often come to the library for books and a place to work.

Our library services all the students in our school but students need Chromebooks to our library. This will enable students to read and complete AR reading test or even look up information for projects.

My Project

Technology is a large part of our world, and many students come to school being able to look up information better than most of the adults. In the library, I do not have any technology to support the students' needs. I have one computer for checking out books and one that is only for the Smart board. I desperately need these two Chromebooks so that the students have an area to take and complete computerized test and to look up information.

Students have required work that they must complete, and by adding these two Chromebooks to the library, they will have a secondary place to complete their assignments.
