I am a teacher of a self contained classroom with a variety of students with disabilities. There is not a "typical" day in my classroom. We have ups and downs, meltdowns and celebrations, and that can be within an hour time frame. My classroom is interesting to say the least, but we are a family.
My students have a vast range of disabilities, but that doesn't stop them from living their lives to the fullest.
My students bring so much joy to my life, as well as anyone they encounter. I am lucky enough to work at a school that is full of people that are so accepting and caring for people with disabilities. Because of medical issues or problems related to their disabilities my students may take ten steps back, but they have so much perseverance and they never give up.
My Project
Apple is a company that has created apps that are designed specifically for students who are nonverbal and for students with Autism. My students do awesome with technology and having an iPad would be so beneficial. Because of some fine motor deficits some of my students can not use a regular mouse and keyboard so the touch screen feature of an iPad helps them greatly.
We need two iPad Minis sp they can work with the vast number of apps designed specifically for students with Autism.
Your donation would greatly improve the academic lives of my students by allowing them to become more independent.
Increasing a students independence increases their self confidence and motivation and for a student that already has so many trials and tribulations a little independence goes a long way.
