I need a new laptop in order to continue preparing engaging lessons, grade student work, and access learning resources, while creating a place for students to engage in digital learning and access online learning resources.
I am asking for help purchasing a new laptop, as technology, resources, and supplies are often not provided by our schools. Teachers frequently purchase their own supplies in order to complete required tasks including planning, grading, and outreach. Unfortunately, my personal laptop is no longer working, necessitating the purchase of a new one. A new laptop will enable me to continue doing my job effectively and efficiently, with digital tools such as google classroom, canva, peardeck, and google slides.
This laptop will be used both as a tool for the teacher and as an access point students to engage, learn, and create together.
This laptop will be used in the classroom, as one of the rooms that I work in has a faulty computer and smartboard. With these technological issues, we are often required to plug our own laptops in while the computer in the classroom freezes and requires a restart mid-class. This laptop will also be used for students to take quizzes, complete assignments in class, when their laptops are not working, and to complete digital learning tasks including recording of flipgrid videos, attend digital field trips, and to craft and revise essays.
Additionally, with new software requirements including the use of DOE's GAMA for attendance taking and grading along with google classroom, it is even more important for teachers to have access to technology.
