Mrs. Shaw from Philadelphia PA is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a Chromebook to access Reading and Math interventions and to conduct research.

The students at my school are an energetic and hardworking group of children. They enjoy coming to school, but school funding cuts over the years have impacted what schools can provide to individual classrooms.
I teach second grade in an urban neighborhood where all the students at school are eligible for free breakfast and free lunch.
Some students live below the poverty line and their families struggle to provide them with basic necessities needed to be successful in school. Despite these obstacles, our school has hard-working students as well as teachers and staff who strive to make our school a welcoming and inviting place. In addition, our school is one of the top-performing schools in the city.
The Chromebook will be used to supplement reading and math instruction. Some of my students use online intervention programs to bolster their math and/or reading skills. Other students use different programs designed to help them expand their skills. Students can listen to audio recordings of stories being read in class. This will give students opportunities to hear fluent reading. Students will also play math games that are engaging and fun. This, in turn, will help my students improve their math skills.
Having a Chromebook in the classroom would not only allow students to use the programs at their own pace, but would ensure more students are getting adequate time to use intervention programs.
The online programs have been especially beneficial to my students.
They are able to work at their level as well as be challenged with some material. This will make students more confident in their abilities.
