My students need iPods, a robotics kit, wobble chairs and hot dots to engage in interactive lessons to enhance their math and science skills. My students will have fun learning independently.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students believe they have a right to the best education. Their daily reflection and motto is, "Good, better, best, we will never let it rest, until our good is better, and our better is the BEST!" My students deserve every opportunity to receive the best educational materials and instruction.
Students in my classroom are from high poverty low income areas.
They are not able to access innovative technology that could provide them with advanced learning opportunities. My students are 3rd graders who need this stimulus to help them improve in reading and math. Many of them are not performing at grade level and research shows that students who are not able to read proficiently by 3rd grade are likely to remain illiterate. I would like to help my students defy those odds and learn to read and to apply critical thinking skills to successfully compete in all content areas. I believe that providing daily access to technology resources such as iPods, chromebooks, or tablets will be life changing for my students. They will gain exposure to a variety of educational resources and platforms that will help them not only believe, but live their motto and always strive to make their better the best! Students will become accountable for their own learning and that's powerful.
My Project
Students will be able to use the iPods to access learning platforms such as scoot-pad, youtube (for learning) and more. I will also provide targeted learning opportunities for students by loading QR codes to launch activities in all content areas: math, reading, science, and social studies. Students will also be able to use this technology to enhance their literacy development by listening to fluent reading and testing their comprehension.
I am excited about the hot dots technology because students can engage in collaborative learning and use the hot dots pen to provide immediate feedback and correct their thinking to improve their learning. Student learners will be engaged and enjoy learning that caters to their kinesthetic, auditory, and visual learning styles.
The robotics kit will help students explore their interests in STEM activities and engage in truly critical thinking learning activities. I hope it will expose student learners that are future innovators.

Despite the odds my students face each day, I want them to know that when they enter our classroom they have a real opportunity to achieve the best. I want them to believe that the world is ours and we can choose to make it a better place to live. I want the to have equal access to the basic technology to help them advance educationally and feel like they have a chance to compete with any other 3rd grade student. I need Donors Choose!
