This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are my world!!! They make me want to come to work everyday to see their beautiful smiles and their energy to learn. My students need support and motivation to engage in their day to day activities, due to their disabilities. My students belong to a Communication Education Support (Autism) self-contained classroom. This consists of eight students who are full of energy and enthusiasm for learning and playing. My students have difficulty in their communication skills and are often unable to express their needs. An iPad will be a great resource to facilitate their communication and learning skills and enhance their growth.

My Project
Throughout the day my students engage in various academic, social and communication activities. The students participate in independent and group activities to enhance their learning.
Students with Autism are often visual and sensory learners and the use of an iPad will be helpful for instruction and communication.
My students will benefit by engaging in online reading and math programs similar to their general education peers but at their own pace. Visual learning makes it fun for my students to learn and will help them to remember and apply skills gained to their day to day routines. My students will be engaged working on the iPad independently by learning to take turns and engage in less disruptive behaviors. Headphones for the iPad will be beneficial to the students to help them to be focused to instructions without any other interference. A iPad case will be beneficial to keep the iPad secure and help the students to have a good grip to hold it. My students attend a Title I school and many have limited access to technology at home. Purchasing of the iPad , headphones and the case for the iPad will be of great use for learning in the classroom.
