My Students

Our school is a kindergarten through 8th grade school in the Fairmount area of Philadelphia. Most of my students are bused to school. They are from all areas of Philadelphia. There are 20 students with all intellectual disabilities in this life skills support classroom. The students work on academics as well as skills that that will need for independent living.

The students enjoy coming to school each day.

They really love their peers and the adults who work in the classroom! We have birthday parties for each student and we celebrate every holiday! We are all one big family!

My Project

The Life Skills students in the special education classroom need updated technology in their classroom. Currently we have five working computers for a classroom of about 17 students. These Chromebooks will add so much to our classroom.

We have amazing programs for our students, but not all of the students have the opportunity to use the computer based programs daily.

The students are only able to use technology only a few times a week for about twenty minutes, due to the limited amount of technology in the classroom. The students would really benefit from more technology. The students would be able to utilize the computer based programs more frequently with more technology and head phones.
