I teach Special Education grades kindergarten through third at a high poverty, low-income school. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. These students need several different ways to learn certain concepts in academic areas. They struggle with traditional learning and need more support in academic areas.
My students work extremely hard and deserve to have a variety of books help them with basic reading skills.
They are always eager to learn new words and love to read.
The use of technology is almost a daily thing within my classroom. My students are very low academically, functionally, and cognitively and need technology to support them.
Giving cognitively low students technology to help them with reading, writing, and math, improves their confidence and academics skills.
The kids use iPads in my classroom to help them with reading. It allows to have text read aloud to them, supports their math needs with apps, and can practice writing and forming letters.
The use of technology allows students to be more independent while working on academic tasks. As stated above, this will improve their confidence and academic skills.
