Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a GSRP Pre-K classroom of four year old boys and girls. Eigth of my students are boys and ten are girls. Fifteen of my students are English Language Learners and their first language is Spanish. Seventeen of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes in the inner city of the largest urban school district in the state.
My students come from economically disadvantaged neighborhoods where access to good, nutritious foods is often difficult for many reasons including access, income and education
My Project
I am requesting funding for 2 iPads for our class . This will allow both my Teacher Assistant, and I to more actively document the growth of students, and work with them using this technology right where they are at. This will of course save us time, make data collection easier, give us the opportunity to spend more time engaged with our students, and teach them how to use this technology while providing developmentally appropriate learning activities.
My students will use these iPads during work time to promote early academic learning.
We will also use them for small group time as an independent station. I also have some students that will use these iPads for Speech Development and the English Language Learners through interactive instruction my students will build the foundation they need to succeed.
Having these devices will allow us to give accurate realtime notes along with photographic evidence, transfer notes at the touch of a button, as well as give more detailed information and evidences while conferencing with parents. Additionally, we can take learning activities with us from area to area to work with students where they are.
